Skytree has announced Fred Van Veldhoven has joined as its Business Development Director Europe, leading the Controlled Environment Agriculture market segment.
Van Veldhoven joins Skytree from a prominent greenhouse builder where he was an international sales manager and came with over three decades of horticultural experience across the horti business and supply chain. Fred has spent his entire life in the horticultural industry, having grown up in and around greenhouses in the Westland area in The Netherlands. He has held various positions in his career, including export manager and managing director, always with a focus on the international horticulture market but with strong roots in the globally leading Dutch agritech sector.
Van Veldhoven has joined Skytree at a pivotal time. Its recently launched Skytree Cumulus unit is shipping to growers and partners in Q1 of 2024, with the bigger Skytree Stratus system due to launch early next year, initially focused on greenhouses in the Netherlands.
Fred van Veldhoven said, "I couldn't be happier to be joining Skytree at this exciting time. Being part of a company that is innovative in technology and addressing an urgent climate issue in the greenhouse sector is more important than ever. Supporting growers in moving away from fossil fuel-based CO2 by equipping them with sustainable onsite CO2 production is what makes a company like Skytree stand out, and I look forward to supporting them in my new role."
Rob van Straten said, "Fred's wealth of experience and knowledge of the horticulture industry in The Netherlands and internationally is going to be invaluable to Skytree. We have had a phenomenal year, with over €13m in growth capital raised and our first partners receiving our Skytree Cumulus units. As we look ahead to the new year, I'm very pleased to be welcoming Fred to accelerate our growth in the Dutch and European horticulture market."
