Vegetable growers and other representatives from the vegetable sector met once again at the 58th Autumn Conference of the German Vegetable Growers, this time at the Hotel Bauer in Munich-Feldkirchen. Welcoming speeches were given by Christian Ufen, Chairman of the Federal Vegetable Growers' Group, Michaela Kaniber, Bavarian Minister of Agriculture, Günther Felßner, President of the Bavarian Farmers' Association, and André Busigel, Chairman of the Bavarian Gardeners' Association (BGV) Vegetable Growers' Group.
Here you can find the photo report on the Autumn Conference and the Böck nursery.
Under the main topic, "German vegetable growing in European competition," the focus was on aspects such as the fertilizer ordinance, the minimum wage, irrigation, and water use. Minister Kaniber emphasized the special nature of Bavaria as a production location in view of the recently concluded future contract. Furthermore, 4.4 billion euros are generated annually in Bavaria alone. Nonetheless, terms such as food sovereignty and food security are important. "We have to keep raising awareness of the fact that regional vegetables are not more expensive than imported goods."
Current facts and figures on vegetable growing in Germany and Bavaria were also presented by Agrarmarkt-Informations Gesellschaft mbH (AMI) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry. The final event took place at the Böck family farm in Neufarn with a guided tour, music, drinks, and food.
In the following days, you will find articles on individual topics as well as an article on the Böck nursery on Freshplaza.
