Greenhouse farming in the Mogilev region is switching to new technologies

In the Mogilev region of Belarus, active efforts are underway to reconstruct the greenhouse complex of OAO “Firm Kadinо” to reduce dependence on imports and prevent unjustified price spikes on vegetables during the off-season. The Head of state has drawn attention to the need to increase the production of fruits and vegetables during the winter and spring seasons to ensure affordable prices for the population.

According to the new technology, the greenhouses will be modernized with the use of additional lighting. The reconstruction of the 3-hectare glass greenhouses will require approximately 8,500 to 9,000 lighting fixtures. The reconstruction works are planned to be completed by May 2024.

“Firm Kadinо” intends to cultivate 1,600 tons of tomatoes annually, which will contribute to reducing dependence on vegetable imports and provide an ample supply of produce for the domestic market. Upgrading greenhouse production is important for the country, ensuring food security and access to high-quality vegetables throughout the year.
