Doubling of water basin Proefcentrum Fruitteelt

Proefcentrum Fruitteelt in Sint-Truiden has commissioned a new 2,000-cubic meter water basin, allowing rainwater to be used all year round to irrigate the strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and redcurrants grown there. "In recent years, we always had a shortage of rainwater around June and a surplus in winter," Danny Bylemans of Pcfruit explained the choice to VRT.

The trial center already had a 'rain cellar,' but it could only hold 900 cubic meters of water. The new basin can hold 2,000 cubic meters of water. Both water storage tanks are linked.
