In 2021, the Wucheng Peppers' origin and brand were selected as "China's Top Ten Famous Peppers."
Honoring the local history of pepper cultivation, a chili culture hall was erected in Wucheng County in the courtyard of Zhongjiao Yingchao Spicy Industry Development Co., Ltd. This is a prominent pepper producer and exporter. With a total area of 1,600 square meters, it is the first comprehensive chili culture exhibition hall in Shandong Province.
According to a spokesperson for the region: "Wucheng has four distinct seasons, with rain and heat at the same time, and plenty of light. Excellent growing conditions for chili pepper production. The chili peppers produced are beautiful in shape, fresh in color, thin in the skin and thick in flesh, and moderately spicy. They can be eaten all year round. Moderate spiciness is key for the development of our product brand".
The history of pepper planting in Wucheng County goes back over 170 years, with an annual planting area of more than 7,000 hectares and a peak production area of 3,500 hectares.
In the late 1990s, the largest pepper trading market in Jiangbei gradually formed. In recent years, with the development of the industry, Wucheng Town has gradually formed. At the core, the pepper industry has gradually developed from planting and trading to production and processing, with at its heart the pepper industry giant Zhongjiao Yingchao Spicy Industry Development Co., Ltd.
