Increasing blueberry cultivation for the benefit of the economy of Uzbekistan

On June 3, the Minister of Agriculture, Aziz Voitov, visited the greenhouse facilities of the private enterprise “AGRO IMPEX GOLD” located in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan.

The minister was interested in the effectiveness of the greenhouse equipment, which was equipped with Dutch technology. In addition, great attention was paid to the yield indicators of blueberries planted in an area of 10 hectares. The greenhouse was built in 2019. The total cost of the project was $4.5 million. Tomatoes are planted on 4 hectares, and the remaining 10 hectares are reserved for blueberries. Today, blueberries are the most expensive berry on the world market. Therefore, increasing the volume of its cultivation is only beneficial to the economy of Uzbekistan. At the same time, experts note that long transport routes and expensive logistics cannot prevent Uzbekistan from exporting it to other countries.

It is most profitable to supply blueberries to the markets of Asia—China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Interestingly, in 2022, the enterprise exported products worth $85,000 abroad.
