The Dutch company Duijvestijn Tomaten assisted Deep Branch, a British start-up, in producing 'sustainable' proteins under the project 'Carbon Craft.' This project aims to develop innovative ways to convert CO2 into high-quality proteins. The idea is to reduce CO2 emissions from industrial processes while creating a food source. This is a mission Duijvestijn Tomatoes' core values support.
Mobile Pilot Unit
Duijvestijn Tomaten helped Deep Branch set up a mobile pilot unit (MPU) by providing space and facilities at its Duijvestijn Next location. That let Deep Branch extensively test CO2 transportation to the greenhouses using the OCAP pipeline. This MPU was used recently to produce the first proteins from CO2. The MPU's commissioning is an essential step in the commercialization of this technology.
A 'more sustainable' food chain
The project is still in its development phase, but these results are a vital step toward a 'more sustainable' food chain. Duijvestijn Tomatoes believes contributing to the food chain is crucial. Supporting companies like Deep Branch that share this vision and have innovative solutions fits in with that. Duijvestijn is proud to help and wishes Deep Branch every success in the coming period with scaling up production.
