Turkey: Customizable, mesh pots aim to bring transparency to horticultural plastics industry

“Our world has become dependent on plastic products but we believe that unconscious consumption and insensitive production methods can be prevented,” says Oğuz Yörük, Founder of the Turkish agtech company PLASTOBE. “We are happy to work with our partners who have environmental sensitivities and seek accurate and sensitive production.”

PLASTOBE produces mesh pots used in NFT and tower-type hydroponic systems. The pots are made with top-quality, food-safe polypropylene With their durable and flexible structure, our pots are suitable for easy crop removal and quick cleaning. The use of top-grade raw materials prolongs their life and prevents the waste seen with low-quality and fragile mesh pots. PLASTOBE also allows clients to customize their pots with their own logos and a wide range of colors.

PLASTOBE’s mesh pots can be used in both vertical farms and greenhouses to produce root crops, leafy greens and some fruiting crops, according to Oğuz. Growers can place plants directly in the mesh pots without any substrate or use the substrate of their choice, such as cocopeat or rock wool.

Mesh pots available worldwide
Located in Turkey, which is considered by some to be the center of the world and the bridge between the East and West, PLASTOBE is well-positioned for shipping around the world. PLASTOBE offers various batch sizes and works with its clients to balance the batch size and shipping method and cost.

In addition to its mesh pots, PLASTOBE is expanding its product line with the development of its NFT channel systems which should be available by the end of 2023. The company’s R&D team is also continuously reviewing its design of a new vertical farming method which has not yet been made public.
