Recently, Indian Hydroponics audited a farm they have been working with in Jharsuguda, India. The audit involved looking into topics such as how the operations and management are going on at the ground level, as well as other quality standards.
Indian Hydroponics conducts these audits for all of their projects and provides a range of services related to hydroponics project management, quality assurance, and sustainability consulting in the agriculture and food industries. They work with farmers, processors, and retailers in several countries to improve their operations and help them meet industry standards and regulations.
In their home country of India, they have also been working with local partners to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The Jharsuguda farm
One such projects is the Jharsuguda farm project which started in 2021 as a partnership between Indian Hydroponics and a group of young entrepreneurs. The group was interested in improving their production and marketing of high-quality organic exotic vegetables and approached the company for support. Indian Hydroponics conducted a needs assessment and developed a comprehensive plan that included project establishment, i.e., protected cultivation structure, training on farming practices, testing and improvement, pest management, post-harvest handling, and marketing.
“During our work at the Jharsuguda farm, we provided various services, including conducting an audit, which was part of our quality assurance process and helped identify areas for improvement and risk mitigation. Our audit process is based on industry best practices and follows relevant regulations and guidelines. We issue an audit report to direct our clients upon successful completion of the audit, which our clients can use for better and smooth processes for growing and marketing. We also provided training and technical assistance to the farmers and helped them improve their yields and market access,” says Ashutosh Thapliyal, COO of Indian Hydroponics.
Ashutosh said that the result of the audit at the Jharsuguda farm was positive and that they’ve learned a lot from this project, such as the importance of engaging with local communities and understanding their needs and priorities.
