Brand new TC Home - a house dedicated to berry innovation

The new TCH (Tissue Culture Home) for the multiplication of berry varieties has become a reality at Molari. "It is a dream come true, and we entered the laboratory on April 3rd, the anniversary of our father Gilberto's passing. We are certain he would be proud," commented the owners, Matteo and Luca Molari.

The new  TC Home (TC=Tissue Culture) is located in Cesena and covers 200 square meters boasting state-of-the-art equipment. "We used to lease the space before, which was 30% smaller and rather far away from our facility. Now we have optimized the space and, most of all, we have created an innovation hub."

The majority of micro-propagated plants at TC Home are blueberries and blackberries. "Our purpose is not to mass produce and reach large numbers, but rather to focus on plant quality and on the exclusive multiplication of club varieties."

At Macfrut, Molari will present a new blueberry variety suitable to be cultivated in Italy. "Blueberries are the fruit symbol of the 2023 edition, so we just had to attend. We are known as a company specializing in berries, so much so that we have practically abandoned the other types we used to work on in the past. The segment is very competitive, but our specialization level means we can keep up with global companies much larger than ourselves."

Five technicians work at the TC Home on a stable basis under the coordination of Alex Fabbri. The structure is insulated as if it were a house, with a forced air purification system. All rooms are managed automatically when it comes to temperature and humidity, and the light/dark cycles too can be set depending on the various species and their stage.

"We will activate 20 kwh of photovoltaic panels within the year, which, together with the 10 kwh already present, will make our company almost self-sufficient."

"Everything revolves around planning, as we decided to keep stocks down to a minimum and coordinate with our clients so as to grow almost 'customized' produce. We also grow raspberries, a species for which we are known all over the world."
