Fresh raspberries are available throughout the year at the raspberry base in Xinrong village of Helan county, Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
Lyu Pinsheng from Ningxia Lvtian Fruit Company, operator of the base, has maximized the harvest period of raspberries from only 30 days to a whole year.
"By changing the light, temperature, humidity, and other requirements, we can break the seasonal restrictions and completely control the growth process of raspberries," he said.
At the base, the planting and growing of raspberry bushes is divided into several procedures, including seedling cultivation, field planting, cold storage dormancy, and greenhouse planting.
It is in the greenhouse that the flowering and fruiting process is completed. One batch of raspberry bushes is replaced by a new batch once their ripe fruits have been picked.
