35% less sun in March for orange peppers

In the run-up to Kom in de Kas, local broadcaster L1 came to record the weather report inside the greenhouse at Bakker Sweet Peppers. In the weather report, weatherman Thijs Zeelen pointed out that it was a gloomy March this year, with 35% less light compared to March last year when the month was exceptionally sunny.

For the grower of orange peppers from Sevenum, the lower amount of sunshine meant that the fruit ripened a week later this year. It was the gloomiest March month in terms of greenhouse irradiation for 20 years.

The sweet pepper growers enjoyed Kom in de Kas, as can be seen on Facebook.
