"It is our task to show what is really going on on our farms without sugarcoating anything," Vienna Farmers' Union Chairman and LK Vienna Vice President Norbert Walter stressed to BauernZeitung. To mark the occasion, Norbert Walter invited Josef Moosbrugger, President of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, to a site inspection. The 2.2-hectare traditional Kasehs farm has been in existence since 1886 and is mainly dedicated to cucumber production.
Moosbrugger summarized his impressions: "The high energy costs are for our agricultural enterprises, and there particularly for the market gardens, at present one of the largest challenges. All conversations with affected growers showed this very clearly. One thing is clear: we absolutely need more support measures to maintain this valuable regional production and secure the supply for Vienna and the other provinces."
