First Dutch aubergines back on shelves

Purple Pride's first Dutch aubergines are already back on retailer shelves. The Dutch aubergine season has officially started with the harvest of the first purple aubergines at Greenbrothers' growing locations in Zevenbergen and Van Duijn De Jong Aubergines in Westdorpe. The rest of Growers United's aubergine range will also be launched in March.

Aubergines are on everyone's weekly menu. That is the Purple Pride brand's ambitious goal. "Do we want to achieve this? Then we cannot afford to have no production for an extended period in winter," says Rob Mulder, sales manager of aubergine at Growers United. "We are therefore proud to announce that from this week, consumers can once again enjoy the tastiest quality aubergines from Dutch soil. Via retailers or the food service channel. In the first weeks, these will still be mainly smaller grades, but soon the 225, 300, and 400-gram aubergines will be added."

All varieties and flavors
Since 1 January this year, Growers United's aubergine acreage has grown considerably, from 55 to 75.5 hectares. This has also expanded the range of the largest aubergine brand in northern Europe. "Besides the standard purple, (mini) graffiti and Nasu aubergine, Growers United now also sells mini, Italian round flamed, Chinese long and white aubergines under the Purple Pride label. Each variety with its own distinctive flavor."
