M&S causes a stir online with its “White Pearl” strawberries

Marks & Spencer is showing off nature's ability to turn an unmistakable fruit into something completely unrecognizable: white strawberries. The British brand has already caused quite a stir online with its "White Pearl" strawberries.

"These are TRULY not just any strawberries…" read the post on the brand's Instagram, referring to the classic M&S slogan, "these are NEW Collection White Pearl™ Strawberries, the first on the UK high street."

With white skin and flesh on the inside, these pale versions of the common red strawberry are covered in red seeds instead of the usual yellow. The fruit is technically a 'pineberry,' but it is still sweet like a normal strawberry. It has, however, a slightly more fragrant aroma with hints of pineapple and notes of vanilla, according to M&S, and will be exclusively launched in the brand's Food halls.
