The Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables in Gharaunda has been successfully cultivating colored cauliflower, namely purple and yellow cauliflowers. Several multinational companies already developed seeds for producing colored cauliflower, but the Centre has cultivated the colored cauliflower for demonstration purposes.
Dr. Sudhir Kumar Yadav, Deputy Director of Horticulture: “We have cultivated the cauliflower for demonstration purposes, which has been successful. Now, farmers can grow cauliflower across the state. We are providing training to them.”
Earlier, the Centre had started the production of colored capsicums. Now, farmers are cultivating these in large areas and getting good returns. Dr. Ajay Chauhan, the subject matter specialist of the Centre, said farming colorful cauliflower could be good business due to its high nutritional value.
