Dutch logistics systems company anticipates market developments and adjusts strategy

Logiqs specializes in logistics systems for the horticultural and industry sectors. It is strategically changing direction and entering a new phase. Instead of continuing to grow rapidly, this Dutch company is deliberately opting for consolidation, explains director and owner Gert-Jan van Staalduinen. Logiqs bases this course adjustment on things like the expected impact of the high energy costs on the new construction expansion market.

Logiqs' area of expertise consists of three pillars: Horticultural Mobile Cultivation Systems, Vertical Farming, and Warehouse Automation. It has established a solid international position in mobile cultivation systems and Vertical Farming. Under the motto 'Accelerate access to honest food,' Logiqs wants to contribute to a world where nature, resources, water, and space are used honestly. This focus remains as strong as ever, but current international horticultural market developments mean the company has modified its strategy.

From volatile growth to consolidation
"This young growth market is partly why our organization grew so impetuously in areas like research & development in recent years," says Gert-Jan. "We're now leaving that stage and are opting very specifically for consolidation to be able to grow again, later, but in a controlled way. We have to apply the brakes now to keep providing the quality and service our customers have come to expect of us."

In the coming months, the company will adjust to this new strategic course. Teams will be culled, if needed, in consultation with the employees, but Logiqs' core of expertise and service will remain unchanged. This logistics service provider expects these adjustments to be ahead of the developments in the international horticultural market.

Suppliers foresee reduced activity in the (greenhouse) horticulture sector of the Netherlands and the rest of Northwest Europe. Gert-Jan also thinks growth in North America - its top sales market - will level off. "However, the market for warehouse automation continues to grow unabated, which will soon see our orders change," He concludes.
