Agrotopia in the running for an architecture prize

Roof greenhouse Agrotopia in Roeselare is in the running for an international architecture prize. The unusual greenhouse project is on the shortlist for the World Architecture Festival Award.

Agrotopia in Roeselare has been nominated for a WAF Award in the category 'Completed Buildings: Production energy and recycling.' The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony on 2 December in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.

Together with Dakserre Agrotopia, META architecture office, and van Bergen Kolpa Architecten delivered the largest public building for research on urban food production in Europe, commissioned by the Flemish research institute for agriculture and horticulture Inagro and REO Veiling. Agrotopia is the result of a multidisciplinary collaboration between both architectural offices and Wageningen UR Glasshouse Horticulture, Tractebel Engineering, and Smiemans.
