In the period 2018-2021, cucumber production in the European Union increased year on year. The Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung (BLE) prepared a table based on Eurostat figures, which shows that Turkey is a major producer, followed by Spain and then the Netherlands.
What is striking is that the upward trend in Turkish production stopped in 2021, while in Spain and the Netherlands, production increased. In the Netherlands, one of the reasons is that tomato growers switched to growing cucumbers due to virus problems.
