If you have ever wondered what the mating habits of sea creatures had to do with horticulture and fruit and vegetable businesses, then you are not alone. But delegates at this week's Hydroponic Farmers Federation Conference 2022 got the answer to this question after hearing a presentation titled "What can octopus sex teach us about the future of hydroponics?" Marine Biologist and Author Sheree Marris was the last speaker on the program and interestingly and creatively linked living under the sea to business principles.

"I am definitely excited by this stuff. I don't know if you can tell. Nature is pretty debaucherous and funky," Ms. Marris told delegates. "When it comes to octopus, they have been around for millions of years - they are a perfect model of adaptation. That's because they need to be because they are soft and a target for so many predators. They need to be really smart, and they have adapted in so many ways; they are jet powered and create smoke screens as decoys, and they can change the color and texture of their bodies in an instant. They are just phenomenal animals."
