Ukrainian strawberry producers managed to raise prices last week. Market participants call the primary reason for the price rise the unstable and low-volume supplies, which are explained by the end of the sales season for strawberries in the southern regions of Ukraine.
According to the daily monitoring of the project, strawberries in Ukrainian farms have risen in price by 25% average only since the beginning of last week. Today, local growers ship strawberries to the fresh market at 50-80 UAH/kg ($1.71-2.73/kg), depending on the quality and volume.
Key market players say there are several reasons for the rise in prices for strawberries. First of all, their supply on the market is rapidly declining, as many horticultural farms are finishing the sales season. Secondly, the demand for strawberries, both on the fresh market and from processing plants, is very high, which also spurs price growth in this segment.
