The Antenor Orrego University and the CITEagroindustrial Chavimochic of the Technological Institute of Production (ITP), a body attached to the Ministry of Production (Produce), participated in a project to develop a robotic arm with a sophisticated mechatronic multi-grip that allows it to pick up, move, and drop seedlings according to their quality level; a technological solution to the inconveniences that may arise for quality control in the growth of seedlings.
This modern system will be able to process digital images using an automated electrical controller, according to the needs of each company. The technology is funded by ProCiencia through Fondecyt and the World Bank.
The goal is to help the seedlings develop as fruit-generating shrubs with export quality, improving the competitiveness of the agribusiness. It also promotes and strengthens the link between business, the State, and universities in order to solve problems of a productive and regional nature. It also encourages research and contributes to professional information.
The aim of the project, called "Development and implementation of a robotic system for an efficient and continuous quality control of the growth of seedlings in industrial nurseries in the La Libertad region – Peru," was to try to solve the lack of specialized personnel to develop this work in the field, which generates bottlenecks during the process and affects the agro-industrial sector.
