Biostimulants have been receiving a lot more attention recently, says Jorge Aguilar, Marketing Director of Tradecorp International: “Ever since the war in Ukraine started, biostimulants have been on the radar, as fertilizer is getting more expensive. This isn’t just due to the war, as demand for biostimulants has been on the rise year by year. At Tradecorp, it was important that we develop biostimulants that are aimed towards sustainable cultivation. Our product Biimore intends to fill that gap in the market. It increases the quality of the harvest, as well as the fruit size. Most importantly, using Biimore will still allow you to meet the quality requirements for export.”
One of the traits that make Tradecorp’s biostimulant more sustainable is the fact you have to use less of it to reach the desired results, Aguilar explains. “Biimore is a product that is renewable and can even lead to an increase in the weight of fruits and seeds they produce. The end product was developed by the synergy of more than 200 bio compounds, synthesized by a unique fermentation technology derived from sugarcane A-type molasses. It has resulted in high efficiency while only using a small dosage. Depending on the product, only 25 to 200 ml is used per hectare and application, whereas other products sometimes require you to use 2.5 liters per hectare or more. So Biimore is very different from what you can find on the current market. Our strategy has revolved around helping the growers, so they are in the front of our project. And if you can use less of a product, it will usually lead to a reduction in costs overall.”
So far, Tradecorp has tested its product on a wide variety of fruits and vegetables worldwide: “We’ll be able to apply Biimore on every fruit. We’ve seen good results on citrus, apples, pears, grapes, and strawberries. Sizes increased by 25%, and the quality rose significantly,” Aguilar says. “So far, the application of Biimore has exclusively netted positive results when it comes to size and weight per fruit. For vegetables, we’ve seen excellent results for tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, among others, as well as on soybean and cereals.”
Aguilar states that it’s important for the company to lead the way into a more sustainable future, but they will need all players in the process. “We’re currently in the process of breaking into the market. Our mission is to ensure the value of the food source while helping growers increase quality. We want to lead the transformation towards sustainable production, so we can keep providing food for consumers while mitigating our impact on the environment. For this process, people are most important. Bearing all that in mind, we launched our last corporate campaign. The answers lie in our hands because, at Tradecorp, we believe that it is up to us to take an active role in solving the challenges that we are confronted with as a global population but also as an industry. The industry, farmers, importers, exporters, distributors, and all stakeholders in the agricultural sector need to work together to realize this transition towards more sustainable agriculture and take care of the planet where we live.”
When it comes to after-support, Tradecorp values having boots on the ground: “We listen carefully to our clients and work with them very closely. The goal here is to train people to use in the correct way biostimulants in general and our product in particular. To teach them how to produce more while reducing our impact on the environment. This way, we’ve managed to help growers in more than 60 countries, to meet market needs while managing the climate conditions and our impact.” Aguilar concludes.
