Vegetables tainted with ToBRFV were imported to Russia

The brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) was found in tomatoes and peppers that arrived from Uzbekistan in the central Russian region of Sverdlovsk. This was reported by the Sverdlovsk Rosselkhoznadzor. 

“The laboratory of the Sverdlovsk reference center of Rosselkhoznadzor found a quarantined virus in imported tomatoes and peppers. As a result of molecular testing, we confirmed the presence of the virus in two batches of tomatoes (19.43 tons) and two batches of peppers (20.505 tons) that arrived from the Republic of Uzbekistan,” the regional department said.
