Durable fruit pruner developed in collaboration with tomato growers

In collaboration with several large tomato growers, cutting companies, and producer BigStar by Hwashin, Amevo, a Dutch company specializing in horticultural supplies, has developed a new line of fruit pruners. According to Folke van Dorp, director of Amevo B.V., the fruit pruners stand out mainly because of their attractive price and their exceptional durability.

Durability
"Especially the latter, durability, is very important to most of our customers," van Dorp tells us. "For example, tomato growers use the pruners so intensively and disinfect them so often, they are subject to considerable wear and tear. By nickel-plating the blades of these new pruners, we were able to extend the life span considerably."

Four colors
While developing the tool, it also became apparent that various tomato growers needed color variety for the handles. This is to prevent cross-contamination of diseases during harvesting. Amevo took this request serious, and as a result, the fruit shears are now offered in four different colors.

Better & cheaper
"In a time like this when literally everything is becoming more expensive, we are especially pleased that for once we can offer an improved product that is also priced lower than the existing models," Van Dorp concludes.
