South Korean agtech to push smart farming in the Philippines

The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently welcomed South Korean-based company Green Plus, which plans to promote smart farming technologies in the Philippines.

Green Plus specializes in high-tech greenhouses with its vertically-integrated business structure covering the entire process from design and materials to construction. It covers smart farm (high-tech greenhouse) business, plant factory business, new renewable energy (solar power) business, green (greenery landscape) business, and urban landscape (LED) business.

Some of Green Plus' key technologies include an automatic up-down cultivating device system, air conditioning, and heating system, building-type fish farming system, environment control system, and artificial light complete control.

"The general attitude of Filipinos is if you don't see it, you don't believe it," Dar stressed. The DA chief also recommended partnering with existing Philippines-based agriculture companies as another option for Green Plus' business model.
