"Macfrut 2022 took us back to pre-pandemic times and made us hope for a better near future, despite the difficulties of the moment," said Salvatore Consoli, president of the Italian producers' organization Opens, which participated in the Rimini fair.

"This is our fruit and vegetable fair, the Italian one, and we must support it with a massive participation of companies. This is why Op Opens is here, to show our strong support. Those who seek useless comparisons with Fruit Logistica are wasting their time because they are different events with distinct aspects and dimensions. What we are asserting here in Rimini is our identity and Italian style, which is synonymous with productions that are highly guaranteed in terms of health safety and high quality."
"As in the time before the Covid-19 emergency, we had a certain number of turnouts already from the first day at our exhibition space located at the Sicily Pavilion D4/004/026. Our appointments also take place in the stands, which is why Macfrut is a dynamic and up-to-date fair," continued Consoli.
"We are sorry to have to bear the effects of a worrying international situation, where the only certainty is that of increasing raw material and energy costs. The ongoing war, in all its drama for those who live through it in person, is dragging us down into an economic precipice, and we must be skilled and competent in intercepting the resources provided by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)."
"The risk, as highlighted by Minister Patuanelli in his speech at the fair, is that companies will lose the ability to invest. The next decade will no longer leave any ground for improvisation. The competitiveness of our companies and the survival of many companies will depend on their managerial skills if international politics will allow it.”
"Meanwhile, we have been continuing to talk about the products of our producers' organization at the fair. While most of the citrus season is coming to an end, the stone fruit season is about to start a few days late. So far, the tomatoes grown by our producers almost all year round are showing satisfactory results. On the contrary, the harvest of our early grapes, with and without seeds, organic and under integrated pest management, is about to start. If the production campaign of grapes seems to be encouraging, we are still struggling to estimate the commercial aspect of the sector. The first harvests, as usual, are reserved for our long-standing customers in the large-scale retail trade," concluded Consoli.
