VBT figures up to week 16

Price of organic cucumbers stable above-average

In the run-up to Easter, the prices for conventional cucumbers were briefly higher than those for organic cucumbers. This was mainly the result of a major price spike for conventional cucumbers on the clocks at auctions within the Verbond van Belgische Tuinbouwcoöperaties (Federation of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives or VBT).

After Easter, the situation 'normalized' again. The price development for organic cucumbers is a lot flatter than that for conventional cucumbers, according to VBT figures shared via the website of the Flemish Department of Agriculture & Fisheries. Compared to the past five years, the price is above average. On average, the price for organic cucumbers drops during spring, but this is not yet the case up to week 16, as the price chart shows.
