In the Rankers family business greenhouse in Straelen, numerous organic potted herbs grow and thrive, which are offered to the German trade under the label 'La'Bio'. "We have many regular customers who not only care about a sustainable product but also about the farm and the production behind it," Rankers told NWZ.
In addition to this, for the past twelve years, the horticultural company has donated two cents from every LA'BiO! The non-profit nature conservation organization buys land worldwide to preserve habitats for the diversity of animals and plants. Last year alone, herb sales raised 70,000 euros. "So if you buy herbs from sustainable, local sources, you can do good in more ways than one," says Swen Rankers, explaining the sustainable success concept.
