In response to an increased demand for produce with a premium look and feel, Nature Fresh Farms launched its Black Label line back in 2020. “We felt there was a need for select varieties that achieve higher flavor, uniqueness, and an elevated sensory experience,” says Matt Quiring, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing with Nature Fresh Farms. It’s a combination of varieties as well as packaging that differentiate the series.
Currently, snacking tomatoes on the vine as well as strawberries are the products that are primarily offered in Black Label. Cherry Tomatoes on the Vine are available in several different varieties, including Red, Yellow, Orange, Bronze, Ombre, and Hiiros. Ombre are a mixed pack of Red, Yellow/Orange and Bronze Cherry Tomatoes on the Vine. “Hiiros is our latest addition. It is a new variety of Cherry Tomato on the Vine we will be introducing in late Spring with an incredible depth of flavor, rich sweetness, and umami flavor,” shared Quiring.
For a product to make it into the Black Label series, it must be superior in quality, consistency, and flavor. “We ensure the products that are part of our Black Label lineup are all grown within our controlled greenhouses, using proprietary nutrient recipes. This allows us to achieve the utmost potential when it comes to the customer’s eating experience.”

Two years after being launched, Nature Fresh Farms continues to see extreme interest from their retail partners for the Black Label lineup that is available across Canada and the United States. “Consumers are actively engaging in trials of new varieties, resulting in phenomenal repeat purchases. Additionally, as new varieties of snacking tomatoes are added to the Black Label series, it generates incremental sales to the tomato category. This shows that shoppers are trusting our brand and are actively pursuing products at premium prices,” Quiring finished.
