Building Ultra-Clima greenhouses in China

Joe You is the manager of the Chinese branch of the greenhouse company KUBO. "I have been working at KUBO since 2018, and I returned to China in 2020 to continue to be in charge of KUBO's business in China. Before that, I had lived in the Netherlands for nine years," Joe told us. "KUBO entered the Chinese market in 2016 and has gained a good market reputation and fame. We have built a 60-hectare large commercial Ultra-Clima® greenhouse for China Haisheng Group, mainly planting cherry tomatoes. As of now, the production and operation of Haisheng's Zhichun tomato are very good. The three bases in Pingliang, Zhangye, and Baiyin have achieved considerable profit returns. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, travel restrictions and logistics, and transportation have all faced huge challenges. But even under such circumstances, we have also successfully landed projects in China.”

The 7.8-hectare semi-enclosed greenhouse project planted by Shandong Haoyu Group at the end of March this year uses KUBO's core Ultra-Clima® and active cooling technology, mainly for cultivating cherry tomatoes. The combination of Ultra-Clima® and active cooling enables summer planting possibilities for year-round production. We cooperated with Kingpeng Technology, and the project progressed very quickly. Construction started in July 2021, and the project was completed in March 2022. It took eight months in total, creating a miracle in the field of greenhouse construction.

Arno, our project director, traveled to China even during the pandemic and went through two rounds of quarantine just to bring the best service to customers and ensure the quality of the project. Of course, we also have technicians in China. Our current team is not large, but it is small and sophisticated. From the pre-project planning and design to project delivery management and technical control, everyone in the team is very professional. We not only help customers design and build greenhouses but, more importantly, help our customers make good use of our systems to achieve long-term sustainable development of planting operations. This is KUBO's philosophy of customer success: Full Service Grow Concepts. We assist and support clients during project design planning, greenhouse configuration, system usage, and planting strategies for maximum success.

The current market competition is very fierce. The pandemic and trade war have added to the instability, but the Chinese market has great potential. The government also encourages the development of horticulture and has invested in a lot of industrial parks. In my opinion, a good start is a key to success. When planning a project, you need to choose the right technology and configuration to achieve more with less. We want our clients to be successful in their project operations, so we are happy to give advice and guidance. Now the technology of Chinese growers is becoming more and more mature, which is a very good phenomenon.
