"Strawberry demand is quite lively at the moment and we are somewhat feeling the pressure. The week before Easter has always been positive for strawberries and demand is good this year too. Everybody wants strawberries, also thanks to the promotional offers of supermarkets," explains Pietro Paolo Ciardiello, director of Coop Sole in Parete (Caserta).
"It will be a good Easter, and we expect demand to remain lively afterward as well. As for the commercial trend, things are moving in line with demand, both in big retail chains and general markets. Our SìBon premium strawberries are sought after by retailers, while the trend is constant for the organic range, though there have been drops in some destinations. We will need to work harder on these markets."

Production is positive as well, as Ciardiello reports that "we are very pleased with the yields and quality of our strawberries. We have reached 35% of our potential. It's a good campaign, and I think we are managing it well. The production trend is constant and the quantities handled are well distributed, also thanks to 3 or 4 varieties that have enabled us to manage to program well."
The SìBon berry and Coop Sole melon campaigns will start in May. "We want to prolong the crop cycle for blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries and there will be a 15% increase in production volumes in line with the objectives we have set ourselves. Melon crops will instead remain stable."
