Transplant time for oblong and cherry tomatoes

Transplants of Sbirulino and Mr. Green tomatoes have started all over Italy during the past few days characterized by unusual spring-like temperatures.

Sbirulino is a cherry tomato from TSI Italia. The variety is very popular in the leading domestic markets and mainly in the center and north of the country thanks to its flavor, very high yields and appealing bunches.

Plants also stand out due to their short internodes and perfect bunches, with fruits close to the rachises. This is a rather important element if we consider that the esthetic appeal often prevails when a customer decides to make a purchase. Great setting capability and generativity make plants ideal for all spring transplants.

Sbirulino is an early variety, among the first for transplants at TSI Italia, as it is suitable for spring cycles in Sicily as well as in the rest of the country. Sbirulino is followed by Eletta and Durillo, suitable for fall and winter cycles in Sicily.

Sbirulino boasts consistent fruits and excellent shelf life, plus fruits have a deep red color with an average weight of 25 grams. Resistances: HR: ToMV:0-2 / Va:0 / Vd:0 / Fol:0-1/ TSWV; IR: Mi / Ma / Mj.

Mr. Green is an oblong tomato variety suitable for spring/summer transplants all over the Italian peninsula with small variations. Fruits weigh 130-160 grams on average. Its characteristics aim at reducing blossom-end rot also for the more hostile transplants. i.e. late spring/summer ones. Setting is good also at high temperatures, which means it can be cultivated during the summer period too. Bunches are elegant with 6-8 homogeneous fruits growing from a strong rachis.

Particular attention was paid to varietal selection and yields during genetic improvement, in fact Mr. Green stands out for the continuous production and fruit grades, meaning excellent yields are achieved. Resistances: HR: ToMV:0-2 / TSWV / Fol:0-2 / Va:0 / Vd:0 / PF:A-E; IR: Ma / Mi / Mj / TYLCV
