The Dutch spring and summer product season is underway since yesterday, with the auctioning of the first Sonsation strawberries. Maatschap Penninx-van Lankveld's Michiel and Petra Penninx-van Lankveld are these strawberries' proud growers.

“I like cultivating strawberries because of their healthiness, trendy look, and huge popularity with children," says Michiel, who grows strawberries for ZON.
Sonsation is a short-day variety that produces strawberries in the mid-season. "These plants carry beautiful red, high-gloss fruits. Their flavor gives a true 'Sonsation' and makes you want to keep eating them."
Availability
Sonsation is a fresh crop variety. Non-lit cultivation harvesting can be done from late March through June. "After these, we grow Favori, which is a perennial variety. That means we can then harvest continuously from the end of June through November," Penninx concludes.
