Glasshouse growers wanted for seed production

The Centrum voor Genetische Bronnen Nederland (Centre for Genetic Resources Netherlands), the Dutch gene bank, which is part of Wageningen University and Research Centre, works to preserve genetic diversity in crops and trees, among other things.

In this context, the CGN is looking for greenhouse growers who have expertise and greenhouse space available for the paid cultivation of vegetables (e.g. tomato, lettuce, spinach, melon) for seed production. The number of plants to be grown per seed sample varies per crop and ranges from 10-80 plants per seed sample.

By working to preserve genetic diversity in crops, CGN contributes to maintaining crop diversity and to safeguarding our food security.

If you have interest, expertise, and facilities for the propagation of vegetable seeds please contact Chris Kik by sending an e-mail to: chris.kik@wur.nl.
