In Azerbaijan, in 2021, the volume of greenhouse tomatoes was of 343.106 tons, which is 18.9% higher than last year, reported the State Statistics Committee.
In 2021, there were 3217 greenhouses in Azerbaijani (a decrease of 1.8%), with an overall acreage of 1.7 thousand ha (an increase of 13.3%).
Except for tomatoes, 23.015 thousand tons of cucumbers have been grown (increase by 41.4%), 4.576 thousand tons of eggplants (decrease by 17%), 572.7 tons of bell peppers (increase by 63.6%), 338.6 tons of mushrooms (decrease by 29.2%), 33.5 tons of spring onion (decrease by16.7%), 22 tons of French beans (increase by 6.1 times), 16.6 tons of cabbage (decrease by 2.2 times), 2.4 tons of garlic (decrease by 2.3 times) and 91.9 tons of strawberries (increase by 7.2%).
Most of the vegetables in 2021 were grown in the greenhouses of Shamkir, Absheron, Salyansk, Samukh, Kyurdamir, Tovuz, Ganzhigabul, and Sabirabad regions.
According to the statistics, 20.2 thousand tons of vegetables were yielded in January 2022.
