Fishermen from Müritz will not grow tomatoes in the future. Their aquaponics project, that combined fish and vegetable farming, has been terminated. Purely scientifically, the project had been a success, as the breeding of fish and the cultivation of crops such as tomatoes had worked, NDR reported.

However, to work economically, the cultivation area of 54 m2 (currently) would have to be 40 times larger, and this is just not feasible. The fishermen now want to continue to focus on fish. The greenhouse facility is therefore to be converted into a fish store, scheduled to open in the middle of the year.
