Combating algae growth in basins with copper-based products

It may be winter at the moment, but before growers know it, there could be algae in their basins again. Ocion, introduced in the summer of 2020, helps to combat algae. The product is based on copper.

"The product comes from Canada," says crop protection specialist Peter van der Wel. In early 2020, Benfried received permission to put it on the Dutch market. "The authorization was granted for algae control in water basins. After all, that is where hygiene begins at a farm."

Ocion PX 10 has copper as its active ingredient and is formulated in such a way that copper ions are immediately released when dosed into the water, react immediately, spread well in the basin and ensure excellent after-effects. "The spreading speed in the basin is five meters per hour and it works in every basin without any other addition or use of a stirring motor. There is no need to add acid in the basin and you don't need copper in the slurry tank."
