Article series: energy efficiency for growers

TomatoesNZ has provided a series of articles on energy efficiency for greenhouse vegetable growers. The articles have been written by greenhouse specialist, Elly Nederhoff.

Elly originally wrote a set of articles on this topic for the NZ Grower from 2003 to 2007, alongside a three-year Sustainable Farming Fund project called ‘Improving Energy Efficiency in Greenhouse Vegetable Production’.

In the new series which runs from September 2020 - August 2021 Elly has updated the information taking into account new energy efficiency strategies and changes in the last 10-15 years. These articles are aimed to provide helpful information, and TomatoesNZ looks forward to your feedback.

You can download the articles here.

A great summary, or perhaps the starting point for your reading, is the Technology Scan: Innovative technology for transition to a low-carbon greenhouse industry, which gives a comprehensive overview of the Dutch tomato industry.
