Nearly 2,000 acres of greenhouses were damaged due to the floods in Antalya's greenhouse production center Kumluca district, where the 'code red' warning was given due to excessive rainfall and storms.
The rain that has been going on for a while in Antalya's Kumluca district, Turkey's greenhouse vegetable production base, increased its effect even more. The greenhouses around it were damaged due to the overflow of the Ules river. Tomato, eggplant, cucumber greenhouses were flooded.
Producers living in houses by the stream also spent the night with their relatives as a precaution. At daybreak, the producers who came to their greenhouses saw that their products were underwater. Farmers could hardly walk through the mud carried by the stream. The water that filled the greenhouses was tried to be evacuated with the help of motor pumps. Farmers made great efforts to drain the water in the vegetable greenhouses. According to the first estimations, nearly 2,000 acres of greenhouse areas were damaged in the region. It was stated also that many citrus orchards in the region were also flooded.
