Changhua's cherry tomatoes have been fully ordered before harvesting

Taiwan produces cherry tomatoes throughout the year. A Changhua, Huang Fucong-based grower insists on not using pesticides. He stops planting for half a year to let the garden rest properly and only sows in the season suitable for cherry tomatoes. The size of his cherry tomatoes is consistent. The fruit has a natural shape with a taste of a balanced sweet-acid ratio. Its sales volume grows by 20% annually and it is in short supply this year. All the products have not been fully ordered before harvesting.

Huang Fucong said that the yield of cherry tomatoes in the common greenhouse can reach about 54 kg per square meter, but he does not pursue a high yield. Every year in mid-September, he starts to plant the seedlings of cherry tomatoes. As the weather becomes cooler, after two and a half months, he can harvest the tomatoes till the end of March in the following year. After the end of the harvest, he clears the greenhouse for half a month to avoid the active pests during the season from early summer to mid-autumn.  He sends his cherry tomatoes for inspection every year, to ensure that there is no pesticide. All the tomatoes can be picked and eaten in the greenhouse directly.

From the Mid-Autumn Festival to the following spring, the temperature is low. It is suitable for cherry tomato growing. Without agents, the fruit grows naturally, and its shape stays consistent. Huang Fucong uses self-made organic liquid fertilizer, as herbicides are completely prohibited in the greenhouse. The sweet-acid ratio of the fruit reaches 1:9, and it gives a feeling of sweetness after eating. Even the yield in Huang Fucong's greenhouse is only half of the others, the orders he gets increase by 20% year by year. The order volume reached 120% this year, and the fruit is in short supply.

He said that the sandy soil at Xihu Lake is suitable for planting cherry tomatoes, as long as you master the planting techniques without using herbicides and chemical fertilizers. He suggests that it is important to avoid producing tomatoes only with the taste of sweetness, pay attention to nutrient balance, avoid producing large fruits which do not taste sweet at all, and avoid the bad situation that the fruit gets smaller as it gets closer to the end of growing. He believes that by taking good care of the quality, he can sell the products easily without looking for channels.
