Guinness World Record for a canoe made of ... mushrooms?

Katy Ayers and Ashley Gordon, two Americans from Grand Island, Nebraska, were awarded a Guinness World Record after they built the world's largest boat made of mushroom mycelium.

Measuring 2.3 meters in length, this canoe that was christened the Myconoe is made from 100% organic matter and is compostable. Ayers, who was a student in Columbus when they built the canoe, grew the canoe with mushrooms and indicated that it sprouts every time she takes it out into the water.
