Frank Boers, managing director at BOAL Systems, has joined the board of the horticultural technology trade association, AVAG. Boers: "I want to form and propagate joint policies to further accelerate the development of our sector."
The appointment took place on Wednesday 15 December during the general members' meeting of the AVAG. Frank Boers succeeds Theo Sanders. Sanders, managing director at Alcomij, will be stepping down shortly at his own request from the company and with it from his other activities in the sector. Sanders has been a member of the AVAG board since 2011. He is also a co-founder of Hortivation, of which he was also chairman for several years.
The AVAG Board is delighted with the arrival of Frank Boers, says Chairman Annie van de Riet. "We are pleased that Frank Boers is available for this role. He has a broad background: he has gained knowledge and experience inside and outside the sector. Moreover, his arrival will further strengthen the relationship with the Hortivation board."
Boers on his joining the board: "I am proud of our horticultural sector. In recent years, strategic challenges and technological developments have followed each other in ever faster succession. In these positively hectic times it is necessary that our industry is guided and represented in a professional way. I have a lot of respect for how AVAG fulfils this and represents the interests of the various companies in a balanced way."
