Where does all the Thanksgiving food come from?

Very shortly, millions of pounds of food synonymous with Thanksgiving will be consumed. And perhaps some people will question where all the turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, pumpkins, and more all come from.

Chefs Pencil put together a full listing of the top Thanksgiving food producers, and the great states of Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Texas all play a role in making sure there's plenty of supply. The information gathered comes from a Nielson report and the USDA.

Illinois leads the way by being one of the top producers in green beans, pumpkins, sweet corn and field corn. Missouri is a top turkey producer as well as field corn; Michigan finishes high in potato, pumpkin, green beans and apples; and Texas has notable pecan and pumpkin production.
