China: Expansion of 2 multi-span hydroponic greenhouses underway

On November 13, the main body of the expansion of two multi-span greenhouses in the Yuzhong County Kangyuan Modern Agriculture Park, Central China, was completed. These two new greenhouses will serve as experimental bases for hydroponic vegetable planting, which will further improve the quality of summer vegetables.

"After the completion of these two multi-span greenhouses, 10 crops of hydroponic vegetables can be cultivated annually," said Wang Zhengguang, project manager of Gansu Kangyuan Modern Agriculture Co. After the project is put into operation, it will allow more locals to find employment there, and will thus boost the economy.

The Ninghe District of Tianjin City provided Yuzhong County with 3 million RMB in funds for the development of the summer vegetable industry. With this funding for the project, the quality of the crops and annual yields can be improved, meaning that there is a higher profit per acre.

At present, the infrastructure of the project has been completed, and the integrated water and fertilizer facilities and cultivation gutters are being installed. It is expected that the overall construction will be completed by the end of this year, and it will be fully put into operation and production in February 2022.

The greenhouse will produce vegetables hydroponically. Various technologies, such as irrigation and fertilizer systems, will help optimize the growing process. Thanks to these systems, growth cycles will be shorter, and no pesticides have to be used.
