Covid-19 has meant a huge increase in business for Joanne Webb, who manages Christchurch-based business Eatlocal.nz. The company saw orders skyrocket when the recent New Zealand lockdown was announced.
Eatlocal.nz delivers boxes of fruit, vegetables and artisan food products to homes across New Zealand, with their produce all locally sourced. Webb bought the business about a year ago, after it had been operating for six months.
Their boxes used seasonal produce, and she said eating in season had a lot of benefits, including tastier produce and more nutrients in your food.
“They have just come out of the ground, they are fresh rather than just coming out of a box from the other side of the world. It’s often much more flavorsome.”
“I can’t wait for the summer fruit to come in, stone fruit, and all the seasonal stuff that hasn’t done hundreds of miles before it gets to your plate.”
