Belgian greenhouse lettuce prices shot up in July

In July 2021, Belgium's average agricultural and horticultural price index was 35,4% higher than in July 2020. That is according to Statistics Belgium, Statbel, calculations. 

The greenhouse vegetable index rose the most. It returned to a similar level as that of the 2015 base year. This index increased by 76,2% compared to July 2020. And it was 33,2% up from June 2021.

Everyone knows tomato prices were high this summer. Aside from those, lettuce prices also stand out. Except for July 2017, ten heads did not sell for much over the five years.
