The promotional activities carried out by TSI Italia all over the national territory, and more precisely in the territories designated for greenhouse intensive crops, continues. This time, the team of experts hosted an Open Day in Fondi (Lazio), at Luca Ruccardi's company. The event was dedicated to the new midi plum tomato variety Degustibus F1.
A snapshot from the event
"This variety stands out thanks to its excellent flavor and deep color, which is very appealing. The green part is very meaty and has a long shelf-life, meaning the product can remain on the shelves for a period of time that meets retailer needs," explained product developer & sales representative Roberto Mantua.
"The open day in Fondi was organized to present Degustibus to stakeholders in Lazio, as local growers, technicians and traders attended the event. Transplants were carried out on June 25th, which makes the variety particularly appreciated around here as it is usually a difficult period due to the heat. Degustibus F1 withstood weather changes well and traders were able to witness its adaptability first hand."
Product developer, marketing and sales representative Fabrizio Iurato explained that one of the critical points when it comes to commercializing tomatoes, i.e. establishing their value, is the fact supply is not uniform.

"One of the problems affecting the segment of table tomatoes is the non-uniformity of varieties. There are myriads of varieties appearing on the shelves, grown by the same producers. Even when consumers recognize the company and the brand, they cannot find the same tomatoes, at times even within a few days. This makes the concept of brand useless. Thanks to its huge plasticity, Degustibus F1 strengthens the company brand and mostly that of distributors, who can collect it from different areas throughout the various seasons."
"Degustibus can in fact be transplanted in Sicily for the fall and spring cycle, in central-northern Italy for the spring cycle and in central and northern Italy for summer transplants. This way, it is always available and the produce is better identifiable and recognizable by consumers, who in turn are certain they can find the same flavor and organoleptic qualities typical of the variety."
