Hishtil introduce their new UK representative

“Organic production and new genetics; we have much to achieve in the UK market”

“After more than two decades as our UK representative, Peter Collins will be succeeded by Bob Askew,” says Israeli propagator Hishtil. “Because of Peter’s wide knowledge and network, his work has contributed to making Hishtil a dominant vegetative herbs supplier in the UK.” The UK market has become incredibly important for the company, but there is still more that they want to achieve.

Bob Askew

UK - an important market
The UK is a significant and important market for Hishtil. “In the UK there is great demand for herbs produced to a high standard, which we can provide. For example, it is important for the UK to have plants free of Xylella fastidiosa, which is something we are able to offer. While the demand for plants was affected by COVID-19 in 2020, the UK demand for our plants keeps increasing year on year. We have faced a strongly increased demand this year that is similar to our original forecast for 2021.”

Future achievements
While already successful in the UK, there is still more that Hishtil are hoping to achieve there. “We want to promote the organic production of herbs and vegetables, as part of an ongoing mission to improve food quality and the environment. In the future, we also want to focus on promoting the advantages of grafted vegetables, which we also specialize in, compared to conventional ones, and of course we want to keep introducing new genetics, novelties, and specialties.”

“Establishing our UK activity”
“It is important for us on this occasion to express our deep appreciation for Peter's work and contribution to our company over the years. He worked on establishing our activity in the UK market and he brought great professional knowledge with him. We wish him all the very best with his future activities and are confident that we will continue to cooperate on other occasions.”

Introducing the new UK representative
Peter will be succeeded in the role by Bob Askew. Bob was General Manager for many years at Darby Nursery Stock in Norfolk, and before that at Brinkmans Nurseries in West Sussex. “He comes to us with excellent horticultural knowledge, experience and great passion. In the next two months Bob will overlap with Peter, and thereafter take over the sales management of Peter’s Hishtil clients.”
