Westland grower keeps experimenting: after watermelon also Ogen melon?

The Westland tomato and, as of recently, also watermelon growers Bart and Roel de Bakker were visited this summer by the TV programme BinnensteBuiten. Culinary expert Alain Caron visited the greenhouse on his bicycle. He marvelled at the smaller variety of watermelon grown in the greenhouse.

Roel also showed Alain an even different variety: the Ogen melon. The growers are also experimenting with this.

Besides melons, the growers also still grow various types of tomato, including the 'burger tomato'. It is harder than a normal tomato and therefore suitable for grilling on the barbecue and then putting on a hamburger bun. Product developer Sandra helps the growers with this and made a Tomburger for Alain during the broadcast.
